Description
Service. An antique, well-executed Dutch J.M. Van Kempen and Son (J.M. v. Kempen en Zn.) Voorschoten .833 Silver tea service. Comprising a teapot, coffee/hot water pot, creamer, and lidded sugar. All items are stamped verso with a maker's mark of "V K" under a crescent moon encased in a square cartouche and a pictorial purity mark in the second standard. The creamer, lidded sugar, and the hot coffee/hot water pot bear a date stamp of "J," indicating the year of production to be 1919. The teapot bears a date stamp of "I," indicating the year of production to be 1918. Lidded sugar bears a pictorial assay mark of Minerva stamped with a "C" indicating The Hague ('s-Gravenhage). The total approximate weight of all items is 44.02 troy oz (gross). From a Hartsdale, NY estate. Dimensions: the teapot measures approximately 3.75" in height.
