Description

Roscoe Willis (NC, 1894-1980), Pair of Miniature Geese

Hatteras and Atlantic, North Carolina, circa 1960, carved and painted wood, signature tag on the bottom of each bird.
Length 6 in.
Roscoe Willis was born and raised in Hatteras village. He served as an engineer in the Lighthouse Service and was stationed on the Diamond Shoals Lightship. He had a lot of free time in that service and used it to carve duck and shorebird decoys. These two miniature geese were carved later when he was living in Atlantic.
