Book marker given to her by her husband Rex Bell (Western Cowboy Actor), Includes sweet and candid typed letter to My Dear Kenny dated June 7th 1949 describing the personal items she chose to send to him. Clara Bow was and still is known as Hollywood’s original it girl. She had starred in several silent films starting around 1922 but it was her portrayal of Betty Lou and exuberant shopgirl in IT 1927 that launched her into being one of the most popular actresses of the era. Clara Bow's energy and sensuality burst off the screen making audiences fall in love with her. She represented the quintessential flapper girl of the 1920s. Flappers were young women known for their energetic freedom, embracing a lifestyle viewed by many at the time as outrageous, immoral, or downright dangerous. flappers are considered the first generation. At the height of her popularity, Clara Bow was receiving 45K fan letters a month. She married Rex Bell in 1931 and retired from films two years later at the age of 28.
