Item Details
Description
9th-10th century AD. Vikings were highly skilled metallurgists, and as a result, breaking metal had supernatural significance for them. Breaking ringjarn (iron rings) as shown on the Larbro Stone in Gotland Sweden, was thought to destroy the spirits of enemies. Similarly, Viking weapons and accouterments were broken for burial with their owners. This is the broken segment of a fine Viking warrior’s bronze bracelet, broken after his death. It is about 7/8” x 3/8” and beautifully decorated scrolling foliage. It has been professionally refurbished with a pure silver overlay and mounted to a Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. It comes with a certification of authenticity and is gift boxed. Purchases of one or more ancient jewelry lots (that have $13 flat shipping prices) will only cost $13 in total combined shipping. •Celtic Roman Viking Medieval Norse Scandinavian ancient ring bracelet necklace
