Item Details
Description
Superbly fierce Edo Period clear glazed okimono of a seated Komauni with his left foot resting on a reticulated ball. Gold eyes and red lips and tongue are great highlights to this remarkable piece. 8.25 inches tall, on exquisite custom stand 10.5 inches high. The unusual custom stand was carved with notches cut out for the tip of the right foot and the edge of the tail to overlap the stand. There are a couple of very minor chips, one on the neck hair and one along the base. 18/19th century.
