Rare Set of Koenig Scientific Tuning Forks

Description

A Rare Set of Large Scientific Tuning Forks, by Dr. Rudolf Koenig (1832 - 1901),
Contained in a fitted oak case.

Case dimensions: H: 5 x W: 23 1/2 X D: 19 in.

Tuning forks are equipped with sliding brass weights on their tines, which are adjusted to deliver various tones by clamping them into fixed positions engraved on the sides of the tines. These show both the frequency and the ratio that produces it.

From the Estate of John A. Davidson, Jr. Proceeds to benefit the APL of Lorain County and the Dittrick Museum.

Condition

Lacking key. Wear is consistent with age and use. All lots have imperfections or the effects of aging. Gray's Auctioneers shall have no responsibility for any errors or omissions.
