Prison reform.- Hunt (Henry) A Peep into a Prison; or, the Inside of Ilchester Bastile, sixth edition, folding etching frontispiece, detached, faint marginal water-staining to last 2 ff., disbound, 8vo, Thomas Dolby, 1821.*** Scarce in retail. Henry Hunt (1773-1835) was a British radical and important influence on the Chartist movement. In 1819 he was arrested after the Peterloo Massacre, and spent two years in Ilchester gaol. His disgust and later attack on the conditions in the gaol lead to an inquiry.
