Description
Designed by French-Dutch sculptor Alfred Emile O'Hara de Nieuwerkerke, shows the death of Thomas of Lancaster, 1st Duke of Clarence (1387-1421) second son of Henry IV of England) at the Battle of Baugé (1421), one of his brother Henry V's campaigns during the Hundred Years’ War between England and France. He was unhorsed by a Scottish knight, Sir John Carmichael. Signed, par le Cte E. de Nieuwerkerke and dated 1838, with foundry inscription on plinth 'fondu par E. Quesnel, Paris', French inscription on both sides. 19.5”H x 23”L x 7.5”D.
