"A young girl is murdered during a Hallowe'en party. One of the guests calls her friend, Hercule Poirot, to help solve the crime. This was a fascinating case full of twists and turns like garden maze. I find Hercule Poirot is very much like Sherlock Holmes with his analytical thinking. I look forward to exploring more Poirot and other Agatha Christie's novel." [a private review]
"Agatha Christie’s beloved classic, Hallowe’en Party inspirate the major motion picture A Haunting in Venice, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh. However, the book is different from the film. They are classifying the film as "inspired" rather than based on the novel. So, if you're reading this novel to be prepared for the film (as I did) then you will be disappointed. It is different. This novel does not take place in Venice. There is no seance. A few of the characters in the novel appear in the film, but they have been changed to suit the new story being told. That being said, this novel is a fun mystery, though it isn't Christie's best." [a private review]
