Footnotes:
The Cartier Tortue has remained in the brand's repertoire for over a century after Louis Cartier first designed the piece in 1912. French for turtle, the Tortue has a gently curved case and traditionally was a time-only piece. The current lot is an excellent example of an early Tortue and with a hallmark for 1923 it has successfully made it to 100 years old! Appropriate for its age it is stamped E.W.C for European Watch Company and JC for Jacques Cartier.

Despite being a centenarian it is still a very wearable and contemporary-looking piece. A beautifully preserved example of an early wristwatch and as elegant today as when it was first created.
