Description
Africa, Nigeria, Kingdom of Benin / Edo Kingdom / Benin Empire 16th - 17th century terracotta head. Exceptional untouched commemorative head of the Oba. Early ancestral terracotta head used in altars or veneration with the dead. The head is round to the skull and cheeks with almond shaped eyes.
Vetted by a leading member of the Ethnic Arts Council as 500 years old and not a temple used piece. Vetted by Charles D Miller III (Circa 2005) 7" H x 6 1/4" L x 5" W (Ife Nigeria)
