Before the mission that earned him the Distinguished Service Cross for shooting down three aircraft in a single mission, Glen Eagleston was already a DOUBLE ACE with 13.5 victories. He finished the war as a TRIPLE ACE with 18.5 aerial victories, and was the war's TOP ACE in the 9th Air Force. After the war he transferred to the new U.S. Air Force, and returned to combat service in Korea, where he was credited with shooting down two more aircraft, bringing his 2-war victory tally to 20.5. He retired in 1967 as a U.S. Air Force Colonel.
