Chinese Ming Dynasty Wanli Blue and White Hundred Deer Porcelain Jar. Potted with a large cylinder vessel, having thick and tall potted ovoid body, heavy on mid gently tapered on short neck, opening mouth prominent, raised on round foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white color which contrast against blue color depicted of hundred deer's on the forest surrounded with dense tree, rocky rock, cliff and mountain. The Hundred Deer design is symbolizes immortality and is the companion of Shoulao, the God of Longevity, a wish for great wealth and success. The deer symbolizes immortality and is the companion of Shoulao, the God of Longevity, while the inclusion of peaches and Lingzhi fungus in the decoration is often a further symbolic of longevity. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within blue ring lines. Made in The Years Wanli Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
