During his 25-year career, Dale became the first diver in history to win Rookie of the Year and the series title in consecutive years at the NASCAR(r) level. He was the first three time winner of the Winston Select (1987,1990,1993) and three IROC Championships (1990, 1995, 1999). Dale's continuing success, along with his distinctive racing style, have earned him many honors including the title of ''Racer of the Century'' at the 2000 ESPY Awards.
