Description
Pan Tianshou, Flowers and birds, Hanging scoll. Tianshou (March 14, 1897-September 5, 1971), whose courtesy name was Dayi, self-signed as Shou and Shou, was a native of Ninghai, Zhejiang. Modern painter and educator.In 1915, he was admitted to the Zhejiang Provincial First Normal School and was taught by Jing Hengyi and Li Shutong. His freehand painting of flowers and birds was first studied by Wu Changshuo, and later by Shi Tao and Bada. He once served as vice chairman of the Chinese Artists Association and president of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. He is a representative of the first, second and third National People's Congress and a member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In 1958, he was appointed as an honorary academician of the Soviet Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is the author of "History of Chinese Painting" and "Tingtiange Painting Talk Essays".
