Description
BELT FOR COLT LONG BARREL POCKET MODEL, CIRCA 1860. Slim Jim flap holster marked on tab "M. L. BIRD" and belt loop: "M.L. BIRD / MAKER / STOCKTON / CALA". The belt has unusual floral vine tooling with plated iron buckle, fits 6" 1849 pocket model or baby dragoon. Myron Lawrence Bird (1825-1874) was saddler & harness maker in Tuolumne, then Stockton 1850-1870. This is the only holster we are aware. Maker marked gold rush California leather of any kind is rare, especially percussion pistol holster is such fine "as found" condition. CONDITION: very good overall, some scuffing, good sound tab, belt is supple, cut at one end, wire used to attach buckle.
