Description
PRESENTATION MODEL PEACEMAKER SAA REVOLVERS. Both: cals. 45 colt. S#: PE301-E & PE301-W. William Hepburn Russell, Alexander Majors, & William Bradford Waddell formed the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company. The company became a prominent freight, mail, & passenger transport company in the mid-19th century and is most famous for establishing the Pony Express. Bbls. 7 1/2" w/ presentation markings. Full nickel finishes. Two-piece walnut grips with rampant colt medallions. Each revolver is supplied with three cylinders. No. 1 is the standard fluted configuration. No. 2 is round-engraved with a Pony Express trail map. No. 3 round with Pony Express markings has a horse & rider motif with a portrait of the three founders. Third-generation revolvers. In 1966, a limited number of 1004 revolvers were manufactured. The cased revolvers were sold as singles, pairs, or 4-gun sets. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original glass-fronted display case with a red cloth-fitted interior displaying the revolvers and extra cylinders. Case exterior shows scattered scratches. CONDITION: Gun 1 (S# PE301-E) and all cylinders appear unused, retaining virtually all of their nickel finish. Left grip panel is missing a large chip at the toe. Bright, near-excellent bore. Gun 2 (S# PE301-W) and all cylinders appear unused, retaining virtually all of their nickel finish. Left grip panel has a small dent and chip at the butt. Bright, near-excellent bore.
