A Great War 1914-15 Star medal trio to a Private in the Devonshire Regiment who was discharged unfit for further service due to a GSW to the head which resulted in the loss of his right eye. 1914-15 Star medal, “11534 PTE J. HEAL DEVON: R.”, British War medal, NAME ERASED, Victory medal, “11534 PTE. J. HEAL DEVON R.” James Heal was born in Bradninch, Devon and was living in Hereford when he attested on9th September 1914. He landed in France on 19th January 1915 with the 1st Battalion Devonshire Regiment. He was discharged later that year on 13th November due to the effects of a GSW to the head that resulted in the loss of his right eye and deafness. He was issued with a Silver War Badge.
