Cary's new celestial globe : on which are correctly laid down upwards of 3500 stars, selected from the most accurate observations and calculated for the year 1800, with the extent of each constellation precisely defined by Mr. Gilpin of the Royal Society. London: Jan. 11, 1800. Approximately 37 inches tall; an 11-inch celestial globe, with twelve engraved hand-colored gores, varnished, in a brass meridian ring, on an early turned wood tripod stand, with an engraved hand-colored zodiac calendar on the horizon band and an engraved compass under glass at the base. Toning to varnish, with a few cracks, minor losses, old restorations and rubbed areas to the globe's printed surface, two small punctures in the plaster, the wood horizon band cracking in two places and separating along a joint.
