Description
Execution broadside.- Some Particulars of the Trial and Execution of Mary Cook ... for the Wilful Murder of her Female Bastard Child, printed broadside, small hole to bottom corner, one or two faint spots, minor creasing, c.235 x 175 mm., Dorchester, G. Frampton, [1814].*** Scarce. Seemingly unrecorded on WorldCat and Library Hub. Only one similar (printed elsewhere) recorded at auction. The broadside notes that the executed was "to be afterwards delivered to the Surgeons for dissection." At this point it was only legal for surgeons and medical students to use the cadavers of executed criminals for dissection.
