Description
Central Asia, Tibet, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A devotional prayer wheel for handheld use, made from bovine or yak bone, enamel, and brass mounted on a wood phurba dagger in the traditional form of a 3-sided stake with the faces of the guardian deity Mahakala. The cylindrical bone is carved with upper and lower register of mantras, encircled with brass bands and enamel inlays of red and blue. Size: 13" L x 1.5" W (33 cm x 3.8 cm)

Condition
Missing attachment on the end of the chain. Chips and losses to enamel inlays. Patina to bone and white oxidation on the brass where the barrel attaches the wood.
