This was the largest Elephant harvested in Africa in 1963. The real tusk weighed 134 x 132 lbs. Of course the tusk in this mount are not the real ones, but are the exact fiberglass resin reproduction copies of the originals. The tusk are removable, as well as the Ears on this mount for easier moving and hanging. The Elephant resides at a Gun Store located in West Fort Worth just 20 miles from here. It is the only mount that is not at the Auction site. We just did not have enough room here for this majestic animal, along with several hundred other taxidermy mounts. This Elephants is kind of Famous for two reasons. Not only is it one of the largest Elephants ever taken by sport-hunting in Africa; it has also been a type of Landmark item for all the Hunters in the Fort Worth, Dallas Metroplex for more than half a century. The mount was done by Jonas Brothers Taxidermy of Denver Colorado, back in the 1960's when they were at the top of the Taxidermy Field. The hunter that harvested this top quality trophy was the owner of a large Oldsmobile dealership in Fort Worth, and a very close friend of the famous Movie Actor Jimmy Stewart, who he also hunted with. The Elephant was taken hunting close to the Tana River are in Kenya. Another amazing thing about this trophy is its condition. It look like it was just done last year! The Jonas Brothers did such a fantastic job that you cannot find any cracks in the skin or any signs of aging at all. The mount has been very well taken care of and is still in pristine condition. As far as the taxidermy quality is concerned, we have never seen any Elephant mount that could hold a candle to this one. Not real skin, or reproduction. It is simply 10+!
