US MODEL 1855 PERCUSSION RIFLE-MUSKET BY HARPER'S

Description

FERRY WITH BAYONET. Cal. 58. NSN. Standard configuration three band musket w/ 40" rnd. barrel. "1858" dated lock has cover for tape priming device (internal parts missing). Iron mounted stock has US marking on buttplate & steel forend tip, but no patchbox. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle is accompanied by triangular bayonet w/ "US" marking on top of 18" blade. CONDITION: fair to good. Metal cleaned to gray salt & pepper patina. Wood w/ old varnish finish, has considerable marks and dents. Area at top rear of lock is cracked. Bore is very good w/ strong rifling. Lock will not hold at half cock. Remnants of a carrying sling are present. Bayonet is cleaned to gray brown. (01-24497/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
