Mfg. 1955 (1955-1962) with all early Type I features: front sight, long throw offset ejector housing, serrated ejector rod button, narrow lands on base pin, capped base pin latch, "XR3 ALCOA G" marked grip frame, checkered black hard rubber grips with black eagle medallions, small "S" cylinder proof, no "INC." in barrel address, "skinny" trigger, original lockwork without factory safety update plus wonderful plum tone to cylinder frame and trigger. CONDITION: good to very good overall appearance of original finish having loss at high points and from holstering along with cylinder turn line. Spots of loss on grip frame but very good grips with minimal hand wear and faint marks on butt area. Mottled appearance to rear of cylinder, slight screw slot abuse (especially ejector housing), firing residue and near excellent bore. (24-1763/NW). CURIO. $750-1,000.
