Mentioned in the book "US MILITARY HOLSTERS AND RELATED ACCOUTREMENTS" by Edward Scott Meadows, "In 1912, a new pistol belt was adopted. The belt was made in both a mounted or cavalry variation with saber attachment and a dismounted type without the attachment. These earliest belts do not have a snap for attaching the pistol magazine pocket." These belts are woven web with holes for hooks having a "Mills Bronze" finish. 1) DATED 1916. Has inked "NJ" & "HS" 2) DATED 1914. Has remnants of ink markings partially obscured. 3) DATED 1913 CAVALRY. Belt has saber hanger. CONDITION: belts are in good to very good overall condition showing light staining of fabric, light wear to fabric, fading of finish on brass portions along with scattered areas of verdigris. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (02-22176/MD). $600-900.
