Two Easton CT historical Daguerreotypes, one of a painted portrait of the Reverend James Johnson (1734-1810), first minister of the Easton Congregational Church, and the other of an unknown gentleman but likely related to the Reverend or to the church. The former a quarter plate - fair condition, and the later a 6th plate in very good condition - both missing covers of their cases. Descended from the Reverend James Johnson family, Easton CT (Reverend Johnson, 1734-1810, graduate of Yale University). The Reverend Johnson homestead was constructed in 1760 and has been in the same family for over 7 generations. He was the first minister of the Congregational Church of Easton a position which he held for 40 years. The item(s) identified here, were once owned by the Reverend or a descendant.
