Mikhaïl Turovsky, Ukrainian, American, born 1933, oil painting on canvas, Blue Forest, 1995. Signed lower right. Additionally signed, titled, dated, and inscribed, on the backside. Stamped with a copyright 1995 Mikhail Turovsky, on the backside. Provenance: an original paper label of the Zalman Gallery Contemporary Russian Paintings and Sculpture, New York, on the backside. Mikhail Turovsky was born in Kiev in 1933. Mikhail Turovsky has been living in New York City since 1979. He first studied at the Art Academy in Samarkand along with Ilya Kabakov. In 1944, he went back to Kiev and attended the Shevchenko National Art School. He then completed studying under the tutelage of Tetyana Yablonska at the Art Academy in Kiev. From 1965 to 1968, he studied at the Moscow School of Art. Since the time he lived and exhibited in New York, he gained international recognition. Works by Turovsky are presented in major museum collections, including the Ukrainian National Art Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Yad Vashem Memorial Art Museum in Jerusalem and the Cornell University in New York. One of a kind artwork.
