Papua New Guinea, 20th century. Kwoma peoples carved wooden ritual figure for the Yena or yam harvest ceremony. With the head of ovoid form with round button eyes and a phallic nose. Apparently unsigned. Resting on a wooden base.
Approximate dimensions: head h. 15.25", w. 5", d. 4.5". overall with base h. 21.25", sq. 4.25".

Weathered overall. Loss and crack to top of head, age crack done the length of the back, partial loss of one eye, mouth worn away, no pigment, worm holes (inactive), base with water spots.
