[HAND-COLORED AQUATINT]. [NELSON, Lord Horatio (1758-1805), subject]. Commemoration of the XIVth, February MDCCXCVII. [Commemorating the victory of the Battle of St. Vincent in February 14, 1797]. London: R. Bowyer, 1803. Portraits engraved by Worthington, Engraved by I. Parker. Hand colored aquatint engraving showing all the commanders present at the Battle of St. Vincent, including Lord Nelson. Sight approximately 26 x 17 ¼”. Matted and framed under glass. Frame size approximately 34 ¾ x 25 ½”. Print with some visible repairs and restoration, a few visible tears, creases, some occasional soiling. Very good. This was Nelson's first major battle, and the credit of the victory mainly belongs to him. As a direct result of this battle, Nelson earned a new-found fame and from that day forward, he began to achieve what later became hero worship in England. Rare, highly sought engraving. Not examined out of frame.
