Description
Superb pair of 19th Century Staffordshire Spaniel Dogs, a matching pair of both left & right in russet red & white. Staffordshire, England origin. The pair dates from c.1850s - 1860s, embossed no3 feature as shown in the A-Z of Staffordshire Dogs, A Potted History by Clive Mason Pope, confirms the date of c1850-c1860s. Each has a gilt collar, locket & hand painted chain. Each has an overall height of about 8 3/4" H. Max base size of about 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition to both is: excellent and both are not subject to any major blemishes except: one has a very fine hairline to the rear with a hairline to the front side of one following the moulding line & due to age, there are areas of fine crazing as expected.
