Civil War M1850 Staff and Field Officer Sword. Single edged, slightly curved blade with fuller. Double acid etched "US", floral and patriotic patterns. Maker mark of Collins & Co Hartford Conn. and "1862" stamped on the ricasso. Leather buffer pad present. Decorated, gilded brass hilt with "D" guard and foliate designs. Fishskin and wire wrapped grip. Leather scabbard with brass fittings.
Blade Length: 31"
Total Length: 36 1/2"
Provenance: Civil War Edged Weapon Collection of Larry E. Schmidt (1959-2020 | Houston, TX)

Condition

Very good. Blade has oxidation, small nicks and dark spots. Hilt has light patina. Scabbard is fair with a bend and is split at the seam.
