Description
A bronze figure of an Arab astride a camel. Mounted on a red marble base. Signed "C. Valton" and has an impressed foundry mark.
Charles Valton (1851-1918) was a French sculptor best known for his animalistic models. Valton was a student of Antoine Louis Barye and Emmanuel Fremiet and studied at the Paris zoological garden, "Jardin des Plantes". He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1868.
