Description
This double-sided handbill was produced for the 9th Annual National Jazz Blues Festival. It was held at Plumpton Racecourse in East Sussex, United Kingdom from August 8-10th 1969. The event boasted an inane lineup of bands and artists including Pink Floyd, The Who, Soft Machine, Noel Redding’s Fat Mattress, The Nice and many more! This 3 day festival was originally going to take place at a derelict site on Horton Road in Middlesex England. Due to logistical concerns the local council refused to grant a license so the organizers relocated the event to Plumpton Racecourse. Unfortunately, the momentum was lost the first night when the stage power shut off during The Soft Machine’s set. After an hour of silence, the crowd grew restless and most fans fell asleep by the time Pink Floyd played. However, they finished their set with a strong version of "Interstellar Overdrive"!
