These six volumes with 368 beautiful hand-colored botanical lithographs is Thomas Moore and Henry Honywood Dombrain's The Floral Magazine: comprising figures and descriptions of Popular Flowers. The work was published in London by Lovell and Reeve between 1861 and 1867.
There are 368 originally hand-colored plates of flowers with accompanying text. Plates in volume 5 are mis-numbered, but this is as issued. The plates in volume one were by Walter Fitch with the remaining volumes illustrations by James Andrews. The work is bound in leather in a near period half morocco gilt over marbled boards. These are the first 6 volumes of the work (typically complete with 10 volumes). It is a rare and lovely botanical periodical.
Henry Honywood Dombrain (1818?1905) was a British botanist, mycologist and cleric who specialised in the study of ornamental flowering plants. Thomas Moore (1821?1887) was a British gardener and botanist. He served as Curator of the Society of Apothecaries Garden from 1848 to 1887.

Condition
The work is in very good to excellent condition. The bindings are in fine condition with normal signs of wear. There is some occasional light spotting throughout. There may be a few minor imperfections or fox marks to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
