American collectors were enthralled by the exotic Slavic designs which seemed tailor-made for the sumptuous late Victorian interiors then in style. Tiffany, Gorham, and others imported works by Russian makers such as Ovchinnikov, Khlebnikov, Kuzmichev and Grachev for eager American clients, and pieces with both Russian and American marks are quite rare.
