Item Details
Description
Canadian. 1910s. Single-sided porcelain (SSP). Considered one of Canada's great general store porcelain signs, achieving everything a good sign should. The "Peabody's Overalls" script spans the sign, but the humour and salesmanship fill in the blanks. "Wears like a pig's nose", "Guaranteed Honorable", and "Railroad King". It features a yellow pig's head (with a prominent nose) on the lower left and right corners. Central is the Peabody's "crown" trademark, symbolizing "Railroad 'King", with the script accompanying a third "pig's nose" beneath. 15" x 48".
Condition
Rare. Added mounting holes with loss near edges. Some haze on the porcelain surface. Losses ranging from 0.5" - 4.25". Scuffs/fade to the right side of the crown logo.
