A Contemporary oil painting on canvas depicting a portrait of a Pin up girl after the original artwork, Sailor, c. 1940s, by Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chavez, American, Peruvian, 1896 to 1982. Signed by the artist, Tom Daley, lower left. Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chavez was a Peruvian American painter of pin up girls. He is often considered one of the most famous of the pin up artists. Vargas became famous in the 1940s as the creator of iconic World War II era pin ups for Esquire magazine known as Vargas Girls. Between 1940 and 1946 Vargas produced 180 paintings for the magazine. One of a kind artwork.
