Description
**Originally Listed At $250**

Ancient Near East, Syro-Hittite, ca. 2000 to 1000 BCE; Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE; Byzantine, 5th to 8th century CE. A collection of 3 bronze buckles and a bird finial from the Roman Empire and Near East. The Syro-Hittite buckle features an etched ring and prong - the prong shaped like a bird's foot. The larger buckle, with a lyre shaped loop and attached plate incised with concentric circles, is likely Byzantine / Migration period. The buckle loop with a thick midsection is probably Roman. The bird has legs represented by flattened stems, by which it was attached to another object - perhaps a Roman hairpin. Size of Byzantine buckle: 1.6" L x 1.5" W (4.1 cm x 3.8 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand.
