Waterman 52 1/2V black hard rubber fountain pen Damascene Toledo overlay. Damascene, or “damasquinado," is the Moorish art of inlaying gold or silver threads into black steel. Toledo in Spain was the area most known for this work. Toledo overlays are rare to find on any fountain pen, especially on American made pens, this Waterman 52 1/2 V has a Toledo cap and barrel overlay, the barrel overlay has slipped slightly causing the lever to sit slightly high on the barrel and there was once a clip installed on the cap. Wear throughout, with some heavier spots of wear to the cap, Waterman Ideal USA 14K fine flexible nib. Length 4 3/8” and posted 5 9/16”, filing mechanism is lever fill. Overall fair condition, wear present and missing clip on this rare example.
