A pair of Chinese carved wood 'dragon' decorations

19th century

Each wooden decoration featuring two dragons amongst swirling clouds, covered in a deep red lacquer and accented with shining gilt paint. (2).

H: 15 1/2, Dia: 4 3/4 in. (H: 38.10, Dia: 12.07 cm. (approximately))

Provenance: Private collection, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Lot 323, Lot 442 to 456, and Lot 500 to 508 are from the same collector.

Each with wood splitting, areas of loss, and gilt wear; one with loose leg; other with repairs throughout.
