1970 block print by Petras Rauduve (1912-1994). Signed by artist, numbered 10 of 30. Measures approx. 15" x 12 1/2" OA; 7 3/4" x 10" SS. Edges of paper are mouse-chewed; however, artwork it self is not impacted. The voluminous heritage of Rauduve's graphic prints comprises 300 large-scale engravings. The best known of them include: Ganykloje (‘On the Pasture’; 1943), the cycle of Zodiac signs (1943–1944), ‘Prie Birutes kalno’ (‘By the Birute Hill’; 1957) and the ‘Neringa’ cycle (1971–1977). In his work, the artist did not look for sophisticated motifs – he was able to find beauty in everyday life, the most basic household items and his own environment. His landscapes encompass an exceptionally wide variety of moods. They convey a close and innate relationship with the nature of his birthplace, areas of Pasvalys and Birzai.
