Featured in this lot are eight real photo postcards from various photographers including William H. Martin (Martin Post Card Company) and Frasher's Fotos circa 1909-1920s. The first three photos in this lot were taken by William H. Martin (Martin Post Card Company) circa 1909. The first photo postcard is titled, "Crazy Snake Assembling His Warriors" copy-righted in 1909 by W.H. Martin. It shows Chief Chitto Harjo, Crazy Snake, sitting on horse back around a few other warriors also on horse back. He is wearing a large headdress with large feathers poking out the top. The second photo is titled, "A Little fresh Meat for the Redman" copy-righted 1909 by W.H. Martin. It depicts a group of about sixteen Native American men surrounding a bison while on horse back, ready to hunt and use the bison for food and materials. The third photo by William H. Martin is titled, "Indian Family at Home" copy-righted in 1909 by Martin Post Card Company. It shows a family of four standing in front of their home. The man and woman stand in the middle while the youngest sits on horse back to the left of them and the oldest stands to the right of them. The one and only Frasher's Fotos is titled, "Shearing Sheep, Obtaining Wool to be used in Navajo Indian Rug Weaving" and shows three Navajo women sheering sheep. One stands in the background next to the house, while the two in the foreground work on shearing. The fifth photo postcard is titled, "No. 54 Nez Perce Dining Room Idaho" but shows no publisher mark. It shows a group of Nez Perce tribe members sitting on the ground inside a teepee eating a meal with each other. The sixth photo is numbered "64" in the bottom right hand corner but shows no publisher mark. It shows a group of Native Americans gathering aroudn a few men working on something on the ground. Some stand, some sit and one is on horse back wearing a large feather headdress. The back is marked in pencil reading, "Finished by Hugh Davis ? Box 432". The seventh in this lot shows a white woman and a Native American woman sitting on the ground in front of a teepee, appearing to have a conversation as they laugh and smile. The back reads, "Postcard" and has been marked with pencil reading, "Nebraska?". The eighth and final photo is numbered on the back reading, "88" in blue. It shows no publisher mark. The photo shows four teepees in a row and telephone poles in the background. A barrel sits in front of the closest teepee. Provenance: From the personal collection of Francoise Perriot (Fran?oise Perriot), noted historian author of the West and Native Americans. Perriot?s published works include such books as ?Les Indiens et La Nature? (Indians and Nature) 2017, ?La Conqu?te du Far West? (The Conquest of the Wild West) 2007, ?Les Indiens d'Am?rique du Nord? (North American Indians), ?Guide Bleu : Etats-Unis Ouest Americain? (Blue Guide: United States West America). This piece and others come from her time collecting in Montana and the West, her book ?Les Indiens et la nature? is one of the most notable in France documenting photographs of the west. The photos show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years but no signs of obvious damage is present. They measure 3 7/16" L x 5 5/8" W to 3 7/16" L x 5 3/8" W.
