This beautiful and impressive watch was produced in Switzlerland for the esteemed house of Theordore B. Starr. Starr was a company of silversmiths founded in New York in 1862 by Theodore Starr. In 1864, he was joined by Herman Marcus, and the company became known as Starr and Marcus. Marcus left to join Tiffanys in 1877, and Starr bought back control of the company, with the name of the company becoming Theodore B. Starr. His shop and stock were regularly written about by the press with the New York Times remarking that ?Starr?s establishment? has no duplicate in this country and probably not the world.? Starrs son took over the company and sold it to the Silversmith house of Reed and Barton around the time we estimate that this watch was produced.

As was the tradition of fine houses at the time, high grade watch movements and cases were sourced in Switzerland. This piece is fitted with a very high grade movement and a Swiss made case. It looks like a Vacheron Constantin or perhaps a LeCoultre but we have not confirmed this. The watch has been in a vault for nearly 40 years and the price includes a factory quality service by our finest watchmaker.
The workmanship is exceptional and you can actually wear it and count on as well.
