Description
Anonymous (probably American, ca. 20th century). Fantastical Forest Landscape. Pastel on board, n.d. Indecipherable signature in lower right. A mesmerizing pastel drawing of a meandering path amongst a magical forest landscape of towering birches, smooth stones, and glowing underbrush. Brilliant colors dance across the dark shadows of the forest, highlighting the golden field in the midground that emits an ethereal radiance reminiscent of the Yellow Brick Road in the Wizard of Oz, all beneath a peaceful blue sky. The combination of vivid hues and dim shading imbues the scene with an aura of mystery and enchantment, as though fairies or pixies could emerge from the woodlands at any moment. Size of pastel: 23.25" W x 11.5" H (59.1 cm x 29.2 cm); of frame: 29.75" W x 17.6" H (75.6 cm x 44.7 cm)
