Description
VICTORIAN ERA EASTLAKE CHERRY MARBLE TOP SIDEBOARD, BUFFET w. MIRROR
Measures 94 In. Height x 58 In. Width, 24 In. Depth, in very good to excellent condition.
BACKGROUND:
Eastlake furniture is popular from 1870 to 1890, during the Victorian era. The style is named after Charles Lock Eastlake, a Victorian-style architect who wrote Hints on Household Taste in Furniture, and Other Details in 1868. In the book, Eastlake advocated for simpler, well-crafted furniture, rejecting the elaborate pieces of the early Victorian era. Eastlake furniture is characterized by simple lines, geometric shapes, low relief carvings, incised lines, geometric ornaments, and flat surfaces. It often uses the finest wood materials, such as cherry, teak, oak, rosewood, and walnut.
