Description

The Roman legion soldier stands in full ancient regalia. Upon his head he wears a galea which was a soldier’s helmet made of bronze. He wears a metal armor around his torso over the knee-length tunic. A paludament falls down his back, which is a cloak fastened to the shoulders usually worn by military commanders. At his feet are caligae which were heavy-soled sandals. His left hand holds a spear against the ground as he looks far off into the distance. This bronze sculpture was molded using the ancient method of lost-wax casting and stained with a green patina finish for preservation and is mounted upon a variegated marble base. Dimensions: Height 26 X Width 10 inches. Weight: 40 LBS.
