The bronze sculpture contains multiple religious meanings. Here we see Judas Iscariot, who was according to the New Testament, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus. He is notoriously known for his betrayal of Jesus to the hands of the chief priests for 30 pieces of silver. He was seen walking in wretchedness, holding on to remorse and the symbol of Jesus crucified on the cross due to his betrayal. His footfalls heavy, crushing the lion's head which represents Jesus Christ as the lion from the tribe of Judah, which stems from the root of David and his lineage. This bronze sculpture was cast using the archaic method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for preservation and mounted upon a marble base.
