ATTRIBUTED TO ALFRED PHILLIPS: AQUAMARINE, TOPAZ, DIAMOND AND ENAMEL PENDANT, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Of foliate design, the surmount set with a cushion-shaped pink topaz, cushion-shaped diamonds and white enamel leaves, suspending a similarly-set wreath with oval-cut aquamarine central drop, terminating in a leaf swag and oval-cut aquamarine, mounted in gold, maker's mark AP, length 8.5cm

Robert Phillips and his brother, Magnus, founded the company, Phillips Brothers in 1839, trading from Cockspur Street in London. The company name changed to Phillips Brothers & Son in 1869 to reflect Robert's son, Alfred, becoming a partner. After his father's death in 1881, Alfred took over the running of the business until his own death in 1900. The company ceased trading in 1902.
