Cavalieri granted a privilege limited to ten years. Mainly mentioned in older literature as a reproduction engraver Cavalieri was in reality a complex and versatile artistic personality whose work reflected the different artistic trends of his time He worked on models from famous masters of the Cinquecento such as Michelangelo Raphael Francesco Salviati, Daniele da Volterra, Baccio Bandinelli and Polidoro da Caravaggio while at the same time demonstrating an independent and idiosyncratic spirit by also drawing from lesser-known artists such as Livio Agresti and Orazio Sammacchini stung. Cavalieri was also a publisher himself and edited engravings by contemporary artists including works by the Dutchman Cornelis Cort The present extraordinarily rare copperplate engraving goes back to Raphael's wall painting in the Vatican Magnificent sharp and contrasting print, trimmed to the plate edge.
