Description
[MAP-CANADA]
ADAMS, JOHN, surveyor. Map of the City and Suburbs of Montreal ... Constructed from a New Survey, 1825 by John Adams. New York: Engraved by J. D. Stout, 1825. Engraved map on three large sheets, now dissected to six sections. Overall about 32 x 74 inches (82 x 188 cm); framed. Laid to separate boards, varnished, losses in the image, mounting holes along extremities, other stains, tears and wear, the framing obscures plate marks if extant, not examined out of frame and sold as is.
A scarce early 19th century large-format plan of the City of Montreal. While this copy is varnished and worn, much of the detailed waterfront area is preserved. Rare Book Hub reports only two copies sold at auction.
